2022 Goals

Another year, another set of goals! Welcome 2022

From only accomplishing 1 goal of 5 in 2020 to 3 of 5 last year. It’s the progress for me 💁

Excited to have these finalized and see what the year brings. Trying to get in the best shape mentally, physically, financially, and more!

I like to follow the SMART goal approach.

What are SMART goals? Read my post for setting SMART goals here.

SMART is an acronym for:

Specific
Measurable
Achievable/Attainable
Relevant
Time-based

Here’s a quick run down:

S – the more specific the goal the better. Do not be vague. Umbrella goals usually do not succeed.

M – quantify your goal.

A  – be honest with yourself. You don’t have to accomplish every goal, but you should be at least close to accomplishment.

R – choose something closely related to your ideals and appropriate at this time in life.

T – deadline! Pick an actual date in the future on the calendar. Include checkpoints if you desire 🙂

For my goals I’m going to tackle 5 categories: business, finance, health, family, and personal.

Business Goals

These are definitely evolving as different opportunities present themselves

  1. Yoga
    Bring back beach yoga!
    Deadline: Summer 2022
Get some non-members to my yoga classes at GWCF
    Deadline: 12/31/2022
  1. Google Ads: generate enough traffic to qualify for Google Ads on this here blog
    Deadline: 12/31/2022

Finance Goals

Just one this year, nothing exceptional, but I’m so over my student loan payment.

  1. Payoff my remaining student loans
I was lucky enough not to have any loans from undergrad, so I just have what is left from my MBA. Roughly, $7500.
    Deadline: 12/31/2022

Health Goals

Going to challenge myself on this goal: increasing the Crossfit attendance goal, adding a new skill, and improving my cardio. Skipping the stretch goal this year because I’m always finding myself stretching now. Whether it’s on the floor playing with my daughter, at night just trying to stretch out, at yoga, getting ready for the next yoga class, etc. I’m just finding little times to stretch throughout the day.

  1. Crossfit on average 3x per week.
I attempted this in 2020, but I did not achieve it. I’m going to try again because I was easily able to complete the 2x per week last year even with a maternity leave.
  2. New Skill: double unders
Since starting crossfit, I have been pregnant 2x. Not the best circumstances to achieve double unders – haha. This year I am determined to finally get them solid.
  1. Independent cardio 1x per week @ 30 minutes
I am really lacking in the cardio and endurance area of fitness. Hopefully by adding this in I can get some improvement. I own both a treadmill and a spin bike (and I’m a certified spin instructor) so there should be no excuses in this area. Even if it’s just a walk on the treadmill, it’s something.

If you’re into maths like me then:
3x a week on average equates to at least 156/year, 39/quarter, and 13/month.
2x a week on average equates to at least 104/year, 26/quarter, and 8-9/month.
1x a week on average equates to 52/year, 13/quarter, and 4-5/month

Family Goals

This goal went so well in 2020 & 2021 and was the one goal I fully accomplished both years, so I’m going to keep it the same 🙂

  1. 1 date night a month – childfree
  2. 1 family event/outing per month

Personal Goals

In 2020 I had high hopes for this goal, you can read my overconfidence here (😂). It was a big fail! So, in 2021 I scaled waaayyyyy back – spoiler alert, failed again. I really don’t think I can scale back much more, so I’m keeping the goal the same as last year.

  1. Finished both started knitting projects
  2. Read at least 3 books

Last year I barely picked up a book I have been reading for a year and I definitely neglected my crafting. Hopefully this year I don’t just scroll my free time away.

Here’s a tidy list of all goals:

  1. Business Goals
    • Yoga
    • Qualify for Google Ads
  2. Finance Goals
    • Pay off remaining MBA student loan
  3. Health Goals
    • Crossfit average 3x per week
    • New Skill: Double unders
    • Independent cardio average 1x per week
  4. Family Goals
    • 1 child-free date night with the hubs monthly
    • 1 family outing monthly
  5. Personal Goals
    • Read
    • Knit

As always, I will be doing quarterly blog posts for updates on all my goals.

2020 and 2021, were definitely abnormal, relatively speaking as a millennial. But the difficulties were met with many solutions that garnered benefits including working from home, more outside dining (it’s not super common in MA – weather, special liquor licenses & all that), embracing new technology, and more.

Really looking forward to the changes of 2022 and crushing some more goals!

I’d love to read your goals in the comments or any input you may have on how you stay focused! If you have any other questions or want assistance with your goals, you can also reach out on the contact form 😉
