2023 Goals

2023 Goals – here we come! 

If you have read my goal posts before, you know I follow the SMART goal approach. 

What are SMART goals? Read my post for setting SMART goals here.

For my goals I’m going to tackle business, finance, health, personal, and start sharing my long-term goals. 

In the past I have included family goals to make time for date nights and family days, but we seem to naturally plan these or do them without thinking so I am removing it as a goal. One of my long-term goals for my family is to explore the US national parks when the kids are older. There will definitely be a return of the family goal in 3-5 years to make sure these happen!

Business Goals

These are definitely evolving as different opportunities present themselves

  1. Yoga
    • Beach yoga – get attendance back up. 2021 was slammed, 2022 not so much. I think 2021 with co-videos still a thing more people were looking for outside activities, but 2022 with everything back to normal not so much.
    • Grow the class, non-members and members alike
  2. Start an Etsy shop. I know… I change this goal every year. 
    Blame it on millennial hustle culture. Unsure why we can’t just enjoy hobbies, but I just want a fun little side hustle and I’m clearly not devoting enough time to this blog 😅

Finance Goals

  1. Payoff my remaining student loans – I paused this goal last year because I am pretty sure I will qualify for the loan forgiveness should it come to fruition.
    I was lucky enough not to have any loans from undergrad, so I just have what is left from my MBA. Roughly, $7000. 
    Deadline: 12/31/2023 whether by forgiveness or payment. 
  1. I also want to create some small finance goals throughout the year. Not sure what to start with. Thinking a couple monthly goals sprinkled in? Help me out with some suggestions!

Health Goals: 

Going to challenge myself on this goal: increasing the Crossfit attendance goal, adding a new skill, and improving my cardio. Skipping the stretch goal this year because I’m always finding myself stretching now. Whether it’s on the floor playing with my daughter, at night just trying to stretch out, at yoga, getting ready for the next yoga class, etc. I’m just finding little times to stretch throughout the day.

  1. Crossfit on average 3x per week.
    I attempted this in 2020 and 2022 but I did not achieve it. I’m going to try again. It should be attainable.
    New Skill: Consistent toes to bar
    I can do about 3 of these before my toes stop connecting with the bar. I would like to be able to do clusters of 10 hitting the bar each time.  
  2. Independent cardio 1x per week @ 30 minutes
    Trying this again. Just anything to get better at running and cardio in general.  

If you’re into maths like me then:
3x a week on average equates to at least 156/year, 39/quarter, and 13/month
2x a week on average equates to at least 104/year, 26/quarter, and 8-9/month
1x a week on average equates to 52/year, 13/quarter, and 4-5/month

Personal Goals: 

  1. Finish 4-year old knitting project 😅
  2. Read at least 4 books 

Last year I succeeded in reading 3 books, excited to go for the 4th! The knitting project still eludes me, I don’t make time and I hate leaving things unfinished, but I am determined to finish. 

Long Term Goals:

  1. 50 states before 50!
    • 15 visited
      Pretty self explanatory, visit all 50 states before I turn 50. Roughly 1.5 decades to wrap them up.
