5 Things Tidy People Do Daily
Are you an untidy person? Do you want to know what makes a tidy person? Here’s my short introduction to tidy living!
Tidy people are always in a state of tidying (whether they realize it or not), always picking up, putting things away, or cleaning while they are doing something else. I cannot tell you how many times a day I fluff the pillows on the couch, it just looks so much better when the throw pillows are fluffed.

Below are the top 5 things, most tidy people do daily (myself included).
- Make the bed
- I know, you think, “I’m just going to get in it later.” But not much feels nicer after a long day than a made bed. It also makes bedrooms look 100% cleaner. Additionally, it frees up space to fold laundry if need be.
- Never eat meals in front of the TV
- Eating a meal in front of the TV almost guarantees you will not immediately get up and put your plate in the sink, wash any pots and pans from cooking, or wipe down your eating space. By eating at the table or breakfast bar without distractions allows you to not only be tidy, but also be healthier. People tend to overeat when they are distracted while eating. If you are not distracted you will be able to focus on your meal and how you feel while eating it. Once, you are done eating you will want to get up and start packing up any leftovers and cleaning the eating and cooking areas. If you are distracted, you will likely stay distracted with a dirty plate in front of you. Next thing you know it’s time for bed and you barely muster the energy to plop your plate in the sink .
- Clean as they go
- Referencing what I said early, tidy people are in a constant state of tiding, or picking up. Tidy people never leave a room empty handed. The drinking glass is put in the sink or dishwasher, the shoes are put away, the piece of laundry is put in the washer, and so on and on…
- Have a home for everything
- Tidy people don’t like clutter. Everything has a place it can be put away (hint: it’s not on the counter). Whether a pantry, drawer, or closet there will be space for the item. Additionally, they won’t bring anything home unless they are sure there is room for it.
- Put the house to bed
- Tidy people don’t go to bed with the house amiss. The blankets on the couch get folded and put back, the dishes in the sink are done or put in the dishwasher, the laundry is not on the floor, counters are wiped down, lunches are ready for the next day, and if there are kids involved their assignments and anything else they need for after school activities are packed & ready to go.
There are (I’m sure) many more things I’ve missed on the list, but implementing even one or 2 of these things daily will get you started on track to tidiness.
Good luck and good tidings 😉
